What are the known issues across CUNY with Alma/Primo VE?

Alma

Acquisitions

  1. Purchase order line (POL) templates in the new interface are not working correctly. Until this gets fixed, you can switch back to the old interface.
  2. The "Keep in Department" option is not available when receiving in the new POL interface.

E-Resources

  1. The weekly Alma publishing profile for each IZ does not include the records from the NZ. OLS has a high priority case open with Ex Libris for this problem

Fulfillment

  1. Third-party resource sharing (e.g., ILLiad) needs to be fully integrated in Alma.
    • This requires effort on the part of the campus library to include EMPLIDs in their ILLiad/Tipasa patron databases to create a matchpoint for patrons in Alma.

Primo VE

Account (Loans, Requests, Renewals, etc.)

  1. Patrons are unable to place requests (hold and CLICS) in the Network Zone instance of OneSearch. (ExL Case #00999878)
  2. Patrons are unable to see activity in other IZs when signed into OneSearch. (ExL Case #00991925)

Search/Display

  1. Records appearing in search results view with a label of "No Online Access" where their availability information should be. This is due to issues with the CDI (Central Discovery Index, which replaced our Primo Central Index). (ExL Case #008817700)
    1. The two things you need to be aware of with this glitch:
      1. If you click into the record from title or “No Online Access” link, the real availability information is in the record view. And, when you return to the search results page, the real availability information is then reflected.
      2. The default search setting at the GC is to include citation only records (the opposite of most other campuses at CUNY). In the GC default setting, if you filter to see full text only, the “No Online Access” records seem to be swept away too, even though some of them do have full text.
    2. Every campus is encouraged to open a support case with Ex Libris with an example when they see this occur.

There are also certain things that cannot be fixed:

  1. Patrons' saved searches and records in Aleph/Primo are not available in Alma/Primo VE. OLS worked with ExL to figure out a way to retroactively save or export them but were ultimately unsuccessful.
  2. Permalinks retrieved from OneSearch prior to 8/03/2020 need to be manually updated. Tools to help with this task were provided to the Public Services Committee/Library UX Committee.
  3. When patrons place resource sharing requests in Primo VE, they can change the Preferred Pickup Institution, but they still see their Preferred Local Pickup Location after they've selected a different non-local pickup location. Ex Libris says this cannot be changed, as it is a feature they implemented for patrons who might want to go back and change their selection again.
